Movie Pyramid for 10/05/2026: an empty four-row pyramid of poster cells, one cell at the top and four at the base, with the bottom row's clue Released From 1990-2026 x Matt Damon and the guess box bel

Movie Pyramid is a daily movie trivia board from the makers of Movie Grid. Each row of the pyramid has a pair of clues, such as an actor and a span of release years, and you name a different film for every cell in that row. You have twelve guesses, and rarer picks on the higher rows score more.

About Movie Pyramid

Movie Pyramid comes from Sam Shulman and Alex Nunan, who also run Movie Grid, Movie Reveal, Movie Snake and Sports Reveal. Its boards are dated and numbered, one a day since the spring of 2024, and earlier ones can be played from the archive or the Yesterday's Pyramid link.

The board is a pyramid of four rows, wide at the bottom and narrow at the top. Each row has two clues, and a film must fit both: for example an actor and a span of release years, a second actor and titles that start with A to H, or a third actor and titles of three or more words. Other days use directors, composers, cinematographers, genres, Oscar nominations or box office over 100 million dollars. Click a clue to see a headshot if you need a reminder of who someone is. You pick a cell, type a title and choose it from a list sorted by popularity. A right answer shows the poster; a wrong one still uses up a guess, and you have twelve for the whole board. No film can be used twice.

Scoring rewards both height and obscurity. Each correct cell shows a rarity figure, the share of players who chose the same film for that row, and your points are 100, 125, 150 or 200 for rows one to four, minus that rarity. So a film nobody else thought of on the top row is worth the most.

Movie Grid asks you to cross two clues in a three by three board; Movie Pyramid asks for several films per pair of clues, so it rewards knowing whole filmographies rather than a single match. It suits film fans who like immaculate-grid style puzzles and want a few more minutes of thinking.

How to play Movie Pyramid

  1. Read the two clues for a row of the pyramid; click a clue for a headshot if needed.
  2. Pick a cell in that row, type a film and choose it from the list.
  3. A poster appears if the film fits both clues; either way the guess is used.
  4. Fill the other cells, never using a film twice, within twelve guesses.
  5. Check your score and rarity figures, then play yesterday's or older pyramids from the archive.

Tips

  • Start on the bottom row, where you need the most films, so you know early whether you can fill it.
  • On the top rows, aim for a lesser known film that fits: rarity is subtracted from your points.
  • For title clues, remember that a leading The is ignored and a hyphenated word counts as one word.
  • The list is ordered by popularity, so typing a few letters of a rarer title saves scrolling.
