on movidle.fun

Movidle is a free daily movie guessing game. Each day every category and difficulty gets a new film, hidden behind seven clues: five pieces of its poster, its director and lead cast, and a one-line synopsis. You have three guesses, skips are free, and a leaderboard ranks the day's winners by clue and time.
About Movidle
Movidle hides a film behind its own poster. A round has seven clues. The first five are tiles of the poster, opened one at a time in the same order for every player, and chosen so that the title and faces come late. The sixth clue names the director and the top three billed actors, and the seventh is a one-sentence synopsis.
You have three guesses for the whole round. A wrong guess costs one of them and opens the next clue; the Skip button opens the next clue for free, so you can wait for more of the poster before you commit. Titles are matched loosely, so small spelling slips still count. After the synopsis you either guess or give up.
The daily film is picked for each pair of category and difficulty: All-Time Greats, Action, Sci-Fi, Drama, Thriller, Animation and Black & White Classics, each at Easy, Medium or Hard. The home page puts one category forward each day, rotating through the week, and the archive lists those featured days for replay. All daily puzzles change at midnight US Eastern Time. An Unlimited mode serves random films without repeats for every category except Black & White Classics, and the site runs limited events such as a run of eight films by one director.
Winning rounds are scored by the clue you solved on and the time you took, and the day's leaderboard updates live once you pick a username. Play needs no account; signing in with Google keeps your streak and favourites across devices. The game is free and shows banner ads.
The site points out that it is a different game from Moviedle, which uses a second of film footage, and from an unrelated Android app of the same name. Movidle uses the poster, so it suits players who remember how films were sold as much as how they look on screen.
How to play Movidle
- Open movidle.fun and pick a category, or play the day's featured one.
- Choose Daily or Unlimited, then Easy, Medium or Hard.
- Look at the first poster piece and type the film's title, or press Skip to see the next clue at no cost.
- Each wrong guess uses one of your three guesses and opens the next clue: more poster pieces, then the director and cast, then the synopsis.
- Name the film before your three guesses run out, then see where you rank on the day's leaderboard.
Tips
- Skips are free and guesses are not: skip through the poster pieces until you have a real idea.
- Typography and colour on a poster fragment often point to a decade before the image does.
- The director and cast clue settles most films, so keep at least one guess for after it.
- Sign in with Google before you build a long streak, since clearing browser data resets an anonymous player.
Questions
When does Movidle change?
Every daily puzzle changes at midnight US Eastern Time.
How many guesses do you get in Movidle?
Three for the whole round. There are seven clues, and you can skip to the next clue without using a guess, except past the last one, the synopsis.
Is Movidle the same as Moviedle or Framed?
No. Moviedle uses film footage and Framed uses stills; Movidle uses pieces of the film's poster, then the director and cast, then a synopsis.
Can I play old Movidle puzzles?
Yes. The archive lists past featured daily puzzles to replay, and an Unlimited mode serves random films.
