Wordle, but one clue on every line is a lie.

Play Lirdle

on lirdle.com

Lirdle solved in 8 guesses: FJORD, NYMPH, BOXES, QUICK, WALTZ, TOWEL and HELLO with coloured tiles, one of them a lie in each row, ending in OLIVE all green, with the countdown to the next puzzle

Lirdle is a Wordle variant with a twist: in each row of feedback exactly one letter's colour is wrong. You can mark letters you believe are lies or truths as you reason it out, and opt-in hints allow duplicate words and non-words. The daily word and its stats are shared by all players.

About Lirdle

Lirdle is a Wordle variant with a single, mischievous twist: every row of feedback contains exactly one lie. Four of the five coloured tiles tell the truth about your guess, but one of them is deliberately wrong, and the game never tells you which. So on top of finding the hidden five-letter word you also have to reason out which clue in each line you cannot trust.

To help you keep track, you can click a filled letter to mark it as a lie, then truth, then neutral, cycling through as your deductions firm up. Because one clue per line is false, a careful solver treats each row as a logic puzzle: a green that contradicts an earlier green, for example, points to where the lie is hiding. The daily word is the same for everyone, and the site shows yesterday's answer along with how many players finished and the average number of tries.

There are optional, opt-in hints for when you get stuck. Duplicate words become allowed after a number of guesses and non-words after more, and you can switch on a label that shows how many possible answers remain. Themes change the look, and you can watch replays of a solve.

Lirdle is made by Bovination Productions. It suits Wordle players who want a harder, more deductive version, and anyone who enjoys logic puzzles about separating truth from lies.

How to play Lirdle

  1. Type a five-letter word and submit it, as in Wordle.
  2. Read the five coloured clues knowing that exactly one of them is a lie.
  3. Click a filled letter to mark it as a lie, truth or neutral while you reason out which clue is false.
  4. Cross-check rows against each other: a clue that contradicts what you already know reveals the lie.
  5. Keep guessing until you find the day's word; turn on the opt-in hints if you get stuck.

Tips

  • Treat each row as a logic problem: because only one clue lies, four are reliable once you spot the odd one out.
  • Use the truth and lie markers to record deductions so you do not lose track across rows.
  • When two rows disagree, the contradiction usually pins down which clue is the lie.
  • Leave the opt-in hints (duplicates, non-words, remaining possibilities) off for the full challenge, or switch them on when stuck.

Questions

How is Lirdle different from Wordle?

In every row of feedback exactly one of the five coloured clues is a lie; the rest are true, and you are not told which is false.

How do the truth and lie markers work?

Click a filled letter to cycle it through lie, truth and neutral, so you can record which clues you trust.

Are there hints?

Yes, opt-in ones: duplicate words become allowed after several guesses, non-words after more, and you can show how many possible answers remain.

Is the word the same for everyone?

Yes, there is one daily word for all players, and the site shows yesterday's answer and solve stats.

Who makes Lirdle?

Bovination Productions.
