Jesters Sunday Edition board of 18 October 2026 at desktop size: an empty 11 by 11 court of coloured regions, with Rule out and Seat a jester modes above

Jesters is a free daily logic puzzle from Mind Loft in the Star Battle family. The court is divided into coloured regions, and you seat one jester in every row, column and region, with no two jesters touching, even diagonally. The board grows from 8x8 on Monday to an 11x11 Sunday Edition.

About Jesters (Mind Loft)

Jesters is a placement puzzle like Star Battle or the queens puzzles. The board is split into coloured courts, and you seat one jester in every row, every column and every court. No two jesters may touch, not even at the corners. The board grows through the week: 8x8 on Monday and Tuesday, 9x9 on Wednesday and Thursday, 10x10 on Friday and Saturday, and an 11x11 Sunday Edition. Mind Loft's two-per-row version is a separate daily called Judges.

Every board is generated with a constraint solver and checked twice: once to make sure there is exactly one legal seating, and once to confirm the whole board falls to step-by-step deduction. Rule out cells, corner the possibilities, and the jesters place themselves, with no guessing needed.

A new court appears every day at midnight Eastern, graded so the week climbs from a gentle Monday to the hardest court on Sunday. Wrong placements are counted, and the leaderboard compares results and times.

How to play Jesters (Mind Loft)

  1. Open Jesters; the board stays covered until you press Start.
  2. Pick Rule out to mark squares that cannot hold a jester, or Seat a jester to place one (holding or right-clicking a square seats one in either mode).
  3. Give every row, column and coloured court exactly one jester.
  4. Keep jesters apart: no two may touch, not even at a corner. Dots show squares your seated jesters already rule out.
  5. Use Hint if you are stuck; it seats a jester for you and is noted on your result.

Tips

  • Small courts are the way in: a court of two or three squares limits where its jester can go.
  • Once a jester is seated, mark all eight squares around it as empty.
  • If a court lies entirely in one row or column, that row or column's quota is used up by it.
