GoTdle is a daily guessing game set in Westeros and Essos. Each day you find a mystery character by comparing traits, name who said a quote, identify a house from its blurred banner and match a set of house words to their house.

About GoTdle

GoTdle applies the attribute-guessing pattern of the -dle games to Game of Thrones. In the classic mode you type any character and the game lays out their status, gender, region and affiliations next to the day's answer, marking each one green or red. Each guess removes part of the cast until only the right person is left.

Three more modes follow once the character is found. The quote mode shows a line and asks who said it, with a hint you can reveal about who it was said to. The banner mode shows a house banner that starts blurred and sharpens a little with every wrong try. The words mode gives a house motto and asks which house it belongs to.

The site keeps a day streak and your best streak in the browser, with no account, and lets you copy or post your result. A countdown shows when the next puzzles arrive, which is midnight UTC. It is free in the browser, shows no ads, and suits viewers who remember the minor houses and side characters as well as the Starks and Lannisters.

On a phone the board keeps its columns and scrolls sideways, with a note to swipe for the rest.

How to play GoTdle

Open the classic mode and type the name of any Game of Thrones character.
Compare the status, gender, region and affiliations of your guess with the answer, shown by colour, and guess again.
After you find the character, move on to the quote mode and name who said the line of the day.
Name the house behind the blurred banner, then the house that uses the day's words.
Come back after midnight UTC for new puzzles.

Tips

Open with a character from a large region and a well-known affiliation to split the cast quickly.
Region narrows things the most: settle it before chasing affiliations.
In the quote mode, save the recipient hint for when you are down to two or three names.
Minor houses turn up in the banner and words modes, so it helps to know a few sigils beyond the great houses.
