on faces.wtf

faces is a daily film star puzzle: two actors' faces are blended into one portrait, and you try to name both. Each wrong guess reveals a clue about the star, such as their birthday or initials, and you have five guesses for each. A second daily mode, Mosaic, and an archive of every past day sit beside it.
About faces
faces shows you a single portrait that is really two actors merged into one face. Your job is to name both of them. The game tells you the gender of the first star, and you type a name; each wrong guess reveals another clue about that person, first the birthday, then the initials and a film they are known for. You get five guesses per star, and a Skip button moves you on to the second face if you are stuck.
The first daily faces puzzle went up on 21 May 2024, and the game counts its days from there, so the archive numbers every blend (puzzle 880 was 17 October 2026). The day changes at midnight in your own time zone, and everyone gets the same blend on the same calendar day.
In October 2025 the site added Mosaic, a second daily challenge in which two stars are hidden in a scrambled tile picture. Mosaic is unlocked for the day by watching a short ad; the main faces puzzle needs nothing of the kind. A stats page tracks your games and streaks, and the archive lets you play any day you missed or pick a random face.
The site is free and needs no account, and it carries display ads beside the board. It suits film fans who are good with faces, and a day's puzzle takes a couple of minutes.
How to play faces
- Open faces.wtf and look at the day's blended portrait.
- Read the clues under the picture: the first star's gender is shown from the start.
- Type the name of an actor you think is in the blend and press Submit.
- After a wrong guess, read the new clue (birthday, then initials and a known film) and guess again; you have five tries per star.
- Name the second star the same way, or press Skip to move on to them.
- Play the Mosaic challenge for a second daily puzzle, or past days from the archive.

Tips
- Look at features separately: hair and eyes often come from one star, the jaw and mouth from the other.
- The birthday clue narrows the era fast, so a quick first guess is worth it even if you are unsure.
- The gender clue is about the person you are guessing now, not the face as a whole, so look past the dominant features.
- Use the archive's Random Face button to practise on past blends.
