The Dartwords board for 19 October 2026: guesses Animal, Tool and Food stuck in the outer ring while Darty says Man-made, with 7 darts left

Dartwords is a daily word game from The Game Band, the studio behind Blaseball. Type any word and Darty, a cheerful mascot, answers with a conversational hint while a dart lands nearer the bullseye the closer you are; you have ten guesses to find the secret word.

About Dartwords

Dartwords launched on the web in August 2026 from The Game Band, the studio known for Blaseball. Its creative director has said the idea came from guessing games families play on road trips, such as Twenty Questions, which rarely make it into digital form.

There is one secret word each day. You start with no clues at all and can type any English word. Instead of coloured tiles, Darty, an orange dart with a face, answers in a speech bubble: guess an animal and you may hear Non-living, guess a tool and you may hear Man-made. Each guess is also thrown at a dartboard, its word landing nearer the bullseye the closer it is to the answer. Early hints are broad and later ones narrow in, and you have ten darts in all.

Everybody plays the same word on the same day, and the next one opens at local midnight. A stats panel keeps your current and longest streak and your average guesses, you can share a result or add friends to see how they did, and the game offers a daily reminder. It plays in the browser on a desktop or a phone, where it brings its own on-screen keyboard, needs no account and shows no ads; a tip jar asks for support.

It suits players who like Contexto or Semantle but want hints that read like a friend nudging them along.

How to play Dartwords

  1. Open dartwords.com and press Today's Puzzle, then Let's Play.
  2. Type any English word as your first guess and throw it.
  3. Read Darty's hint in the speech bubble and see where your word landed on the dartboard.
  4. Use the hints to narrow the category and guess again, nearer the bullseye each time.
  5. Hit the secret word within ten darts, then check your streak or share the result.

Tips

  • Start broad (an animal, an object, a place) to learn the category.
  • Watch the dart: the closer to the centre, the closer your guess.
  • Treat Darty's hints like Twenty Questions answers and change one idea at a time.
