DailyPlay Crossword Midi: the puzzle for 2 October 2026

DailyPlay Crossword Midi is a daily 9 by 9 crossword with 24 to 30 clues. It sits between DailyPlay's 5 by 5 Mini and 15 by 15 Maxi, so it takes longer than a mini and less time than a full grid. Everyone gets the same puzzle, and a timer runs while you solve.

About DailyPlay Crossword Midi

The Midi is the middle size of DailyPlay's three daily crosswords. Its 9 by 9 grid holds 24 to 30 clues, enough for some wordplay without the commitment of a full puzzle. On 28 October 2026 it had 14 across and 16 down clues under the title Who Are You Going As?, with clues on Spinal Tap, The Simpsons and Bill Nye. A timer runs from the first square, and your time goes on the day's share card.

There is one Midi a day and every player gets the same grid, with a new one at midnight. Hint, undo and notes buttons sit under the grid, and a streak counts the days you finish. The calendar of earlier puzzles goes back to 2024. The last two days are free with an account, and the older ones come with DailyPlay+.

DailyPlay is run by Chris Benjaminsen through GreatGamesNetwork ApS, and the Midi has no ads and needs no sign-up to play today's grid. It suits solvers who finish the Mini too fast and do not always have time for the Maxi.

  4. Use crossing letters to work out the harder clues.

Tips

  • Start with the short fill-in-the-blank clues: they give crossing letters quickly.
  • A question mark at the end of a clue usually means wordplay.
  • Check plurals and tenses: the clue and the answer agree.
