Name the country from an outline that starts with just five vertices.

Play BORDLE

on bordle.roow.us

BORDLE daily puzzle of 23 October 2026 on desktop: the day's island country drawn as a single point after five vertices, with a first wrong guess, Brazil, listed below

BORDLE shows a country's border cut down to five points, so the first shape is a rough polygon or, for an island nation, a few scattered dots. Each wrong guess adds more vertices, up to the full outline after eleven misses. Fewer guesses is better, there is one shared country a day, and an archive and an Unlimited mode give you more.

About BORDLE

BORDLE is a browser game about recognising countries by their borders. Instead of a full map silhouette, the daily country starts as a simplified outline with only five vertices, which usually looks like nothing in particular. Island nations are harder still: the island country on 23 October 2026 opened as a single dot on an empty board.

You type a country name, and the autocomplete previews the outline of each candidate so you can compare it with the board before you commit. A wrong guess sharpens the shape, and each step adds more vertices than the last: 5, 7, 9, 12, 16, 22, 30, 41, 55, 74, 100 and then the full outline. Each guess is listed with a small outline of the country you named and an accuracy figure for how closely its shape matches the answer, so a neighbour of a similar shape can score above 90%. Your score is simply how many guesses you needed, and after a solve the game tells you what share of that day's solvers you beat.

The daily puzzle is the same for everyone on a given date and changes with the date on your device. The game works through its list of 187 countries in a fixed order, so the same country returns after 187 days. Results, streaks and a guess distribution are saved in your browser, with no account. The archive lists the last 187 days to replay, Unlimited serves random countries, and a test mode lets you play any country you name without touching your stats. Outlines come from geoBoundaries.

Compared with Worldle and other outline games, BORDLE begins from a much coarser shape and reveals detail in fixed steps rather than giving distance or direction hints, so it rewards a sense of a country's overall proportions. It suits players who already know their maps and want a harder start.

How to play BORDLE

  1. Open bordle.roow.us, press Play on the how-to card and make sure Daily is selected.
  2. Study the outline on the board, which starts with five vertices.
  3. Type a country name and use the autocomplete previews to compare candidate outlines with the board.
  4. Press Guess. If you are wrong, the outline gains more vertices and your guess is listed with an accuracy figure for how close its shape was.
  5. Keep going until you name the country, or press Give up; the fewer guesses, the better.
  6. Share your result as a link, or open Archive to replay one of the last 187 days.

Tips

  • Look at the overall proportions and the longest straight edges first; small details only appear later.
  • Use the autocomplete preview of each country to rule out shapes before spending a guess.
  • Coastlines with many islands stay hidden until the high vertex counts, so mainland outlines are a better clue early on.
  • Watch the accuracy figure on each wrong guess: a high percentage means you have the right size and shape of country, so try its neighbours.

Questions

When does the BORDLE daily country change?

The game does not state a time. The daily country follows the date on your device, so a new one appears after midnight where you are.

How many guesses do you get in BORDLE?

The outline sharpens through twelve stages, from five vertices to the full outline, so you get up to twelve guesses, and you can give up at any point.

Do I need an account to play BORDLE?

No. Your results, streak and stats are stored on your device.

Does BORDLE have ads?

We saw none: the page loads only its own game script and Google Analytics, with no ad slots at desktop or phone size.
