Today's Zanagrams board on a phone: sixteen letter tiles in a four-by-four square joined by bridges, with 12 words left

Zanagrams is a free daily word puzzle from PZL games. Each day's board is a four-by-four set of letters joined by bridges, and you trace along the bridges to spell the hidden words. Letters and bridges drop away once no remaining word needs them, so the board untangles as you go.

About Zanagrams (PZL games)

Zanagrams is one of the daily games on PZL games, the puzzle site from Perfect Level Games Ltd that also runs Sunflowers, Word Snake and Middle Word. A new board, built by hand, appears each day for every player, and earlier boards can be replayed from the archive.

The board is sixteen letter tiles in a four-by-four square, but you can only move between tiles that are linked by a bridge, so the bridges decide which words are possible. The top of the board counts how many words are left. Words must be at least four letters long. A letter that belongs to more than one required word stays until all of them are found, and once a letter or bridge is no longer needed it disappears, which slowly untangles the board and points you at what is left.

You can drag across the tiles or type a word once you have spotted it, and three hints a day reveal letters of a word you still need. The timer counts up, pauses when you leave and can be hidden in settings; any extra word you find beyond the required set takes ten seconds off your time. When you finish, you can share your time. A larger twenty-five letter Zanagrams Master sits beside it.

The game is free in the browser and needs no account. Since October 2026 PZL games shows ads around the board on its play pages, with a NO ADS button leading to PZL Plus, its paid ad-free tier.

It suits players of Strands and Squaredle who want a board that shrinks as it is solved.

How to play Zanagrams (PZL games)

  1. Open Zanagrams on PZL games and skip or follow the short tutorial; the day's board shows how many words are left.
  2. Trace from tile to tile along the bridges to spell a word of four or more letters, or type it.
  3. Release to submit; a correct required word lowers the count, and an extra word takes ten seconds off your time.
  4. Watch letters and bridges disappear once no remaining word needs them.
  5. Find every required word to finish, then share your time.

Tips

  • Start with rare letters such as J, Q, X or Z: few bridges reach them, so their words are easier to spot.
  • A short word near the edge is a good opener: clearing it can make a busy corner much easier to read.
  • A letter with a single bridge must start or end a word.
  • Use a hint to reveal one letter at a time rather than giving up on a word.
