Guess The Secret Word

Guess The Secret Word is one of the daily web puzzles from the team behind Guess The Game, alongside sites such as Guess The Phrase and Guess The Angle. Each day brings one numbered board, the same for every player, and a countdown shows when the next one arrives.

The board is a 5x5 grid of letters, and the page tells you how long the secret word is. You trace words of four letters or more by joining adjacent tiles, and after each word its letters are marked: green letters are part of the secret word and red ones are not. Bit by bit you narrow down which tiles make up the secret path, then trace the secret word itself to finish.

A timer runs while you play. If you are stuck, a hint reveals one tile of the secret word at a cost of 30 seconds, up to three times a day, and a colour-blind palette marks correct and partial tiles with symbols.

It is free to play with no sign-up. The page carries ads, and a paid membership removes them. The arrows under the board step back to earlier numbered puzzles, so a missed day can still be played. It suits players of Boggle-style grids and Strands who want a deduction twist on top of finding words.
