Yahoo Mini

Yahoo Mini is the daily mini crossword on Yahoo Games. It is supplied by Puzzmo, the puzzle company whose games also appear on Yahoo, and it brings a small grid with a handful of across and down clues every day. Each grid names its constructor and editor; Madeline Kaplan edits the series.

You tap a square to highlight its word and see the clue, then type the answer. A clock runs while you solve, and a faster finish scores more points. The scoring adds a twist borrowed from crossword slang: a Plonk is an answer you fill in without any letters from the words that cross it, and an Instaplonk is one you type straight away on first seeing the clue. A Reveal button can show a letter or a whole word when you are stuck, at the cost of points.

When the grid is done you can share your time and points. The game is free in the browser with ads.

It suits players who already do a daily mini and want one that rewards solving clues outright rather than leaning on the crossings.
