Wordminos mixes crosswords and dominoes. Each day brings a numbered, themed Daily and a Mini: drag and turn coloured letter pieces onto markers of the same colour so that every line across and down spells a word. It plays free in the browser in English, French, Spanish and Russian, with no ads, and as a paid app on iPhone and Android.
About Wordminos
Wordminos is a word puzzle from SpriteBox, the studio of Danny Yaroslavski, released in October 2026. Its subtitle, Crosswords, meet Dominos, sums it up. Instead of answering clues, you get a set of coloured pieces, each a short block of two to five squares with a letter on every square. Your job is to lay them on a board so the result is a finished crossword.
The board starts empty apart from small coloured markers. Every piece belongs on a marker of its own colour, and once all pieces are down, each row and each column of letters must spell a real word. You drag pieces to move them and tap them to turn them. On a phone you can pan and zoom around a bigger board. A short tutorial runs the first time you open the game, and it can be skipped from the menu at the bottom.
Each day there are two puzzles with a number and a theme, a Daily and a quicker Mini, the same for everyone. On 27 October 2026 the Daily was number 27, titled Wolves, on an eight by six board, and the Mini was Superstitions. A timer runs while you play and you can share your result at the end. Puzzle packs from Mini to Huge sit beside the dailies, with a few of each free on the web.
The browser version is free, with no ads and no account. Its upgrade sends you to the paid apps for iPhone and Android, a one-time purchase with no subscription or in-app purchases, which add hundreds of pack puzzles, the archive of past daily puzzles and offline play.
The game can be played in English, French, Spanish and Russian, each with its own daily puzzles and word list. It suits players who like Shards or Tiler: the words are already on the pieces, and the work is in seeing which piece goes where so that every crossing holds.

Tips
- Start with a colour that has a single marker on the board. Its piece can only sit in a few ways.
- The day's title is a hint. On Wolves day, WEREWOLF and HOWL were worth looking for among the pieces.
- Long words across the board fix many crossings at once, so settle them early.
- On a large board, pinch to zoom out and see how the colour markers line up before moving pieces.
