Wordfinder is the classic word search on The Globe and Mail's puzzle page. A new grid of letters and a list of words arrives each day for every reader, and you hunt each word down.

About Wordfinder (The Globe and Mail)

Wordfinder is one of the daily puzzles on The Globe and Mail's puzzles and crosswords page, next to the Globe Mini, the Daily Crossword, the Daily Cryptic and Sudoku. The paper sums it up in four words: words hide, you seek.

Each day's grid is chosen by the date in Toronto, so every reader works on the same letters that day. It plays in the browser, and the archive page keeps earlier grids if you want to catch up.

There is no clue solving and no guessing here: the words to find are listed, and the work is in spotting them. That makes it a calm warm-up before the paper's crosswords, and a good daily puzzle for younger or newer solvers.

Tips

Scan for an unusual letter such as Q, Z, X or J first; words containing them are quick to spot.
Look for the first two letters of a word together rather than the first letter alone.
Once the easy words are gone, look along the diagonals, where words are hardest to see.
