Word Be-Gone is a daily word puzzle by David L. Hoyt, syndicated by Andrews McMeel Universal. You find two- to five-letter words in a grid of letters and swipe them away, each letter used only once, until the board is clear. It is played on GoComics Puzzles with a GoComics Premium subscription.
About Word Be-Gone
Word Be-Gone is one of David L. Hoyt's syndicated word puzzles, distributed by Andrews McMeel Universal and played on GoComics as one of the Puzzle Society games. The Puzzle Society files it under word scrambles and puts it plainly: it sounds like a cinch to find all the two- to five-letter words on the board, but the catch is that every letter must be used only once.
The board is a square grid of letters. You trace a word through touching tiles, as POP and RUM are traced in the game's art, and swipe it away; its letters leave the board. The puzzle is solved when no letters are left. Since every letter has to end up in exactly one word, an easy word taken early can strand a few letters that no longer make anything, and you have to rethink.
That makes it closer to a packing puzzle than a word hunt: the question is not only which words are there but which set of words uses the whole board. It suits players of Strands and other use-every-letter grids.
Word Be-Gone came to GoComics when the Puzzle Society closed and moved its 34 games there, each with a new level every day and its full archive. It is included with a GoComics Premium subscription, which is ad-free.

Tips
- Start with awkward letters such as K, Q, X or a lone consonant in a corner: find the word that can use them first.
