Who Are Ya?

on playfootball.games

Who Are Ya? hides one professional footballer each day behind a blurred, colour-shifted photo. Every guess shows how close you are on nationality, league, club, position, age and shirt number, and the photo sharpens a little after each miss. Separate daily games cover the Big 4 leagues together, or the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Brasileirão and Süper Lig on their own.
About Who Are Ya?
Who Are Ya? is a daily football guessing game in the style of Wordle. It appeared in early 2022 from the makers of Missing 11 and now lives on PlayFootball.Games, a site with a long list of other football puzzles such as Missing XI, Football Connections and Career Path Challenge.
Each day there is one mystery player. You type a name, pick it from the list, and the game compares that player with the answer on six points: nationality, league, team, position, age and shirt number. Matching clues turn green; for age and shirt number an arrow tells you whether to go higher or lower. The photo starts out heavily blurred and with its colours changed so you cannot simply read the kit, and it comes into focus as you use up your eight guesses.
The main game draws from the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A and Ligue 1 together. If you only follow one league you can play a version for just that competition, including the Brasileirão and the Turkish Süper Lig. Old seasons stay playable, and a calendar button lets you go back to puzzles you missed, though those do not count towards your stats. You can also hide the picture for a harder game.
It suits fans who know squads and shirt numbers rather than just famous names. Compared with player guessers for other sports, the blurred photo gives you a second route to the answer once the clues have narrowed things down.
How to play Who Are Ya?
- Choose the Big 4 daily game or the league you follow.
- Type a player's name and pick him from the suggestions.
- Read the six clue circles: green means the nationality, league, team, position, age or shirt number matches the mystery player.
- For age and shirt number, follow the arrow to go higher or lower.
- Use the photo as it sharpens after each wrong guess, and find the player within eight tries.
- Share your result or check your streak in the stats panel.
Tips
- Start with a well-known player from a big club in a league you are unsure about: a green league circle halves the field straight away.
- Shirt numbers are a quick filter once you know the team, since a squad has only one player wearing each number.
- Position plus age often narrows a club to two or three names.
- If the photo is too easy for you, turn it off for a pure clue game.
