Today's WhichWay.is Daily Challenge on desktop: Venezuela lit on a 3D globe, a beam to drag, and the target Argentina named, round 0 of 10

WhichWay.is is a daily geography game about direction. Your starting country is lit up on a 3D globe, a target country is named, and you drag a beam the way you think it lies. Ten rounds make a Daily Challenge that is the same for everyone, scored by how close each bearing is.

About WhichWay.is

WhichWay.is, from Eyospace (listed under Adrien Jean on the App Store), tests something most map games skip: knowing which way a place is. Each round highlights your current country on a 3D globe and names a target country. You drag a beam from where you are in the direction you think the target lies and submit, and the target becomes your starting point for the next round.

Scoring rewards accuracy. A perfect aim earns 100 coins, a very near one 50, a broadly right direction 10, and a miss nothing. A game is ten rounds, and the Daily Challenge gives everyone the same ten, so scores can be compared on the global leaderboard and with friends. A calendar lets you replay past days.

Outside the daily, Endless mode keeps going until your lives run out and adds twists such as a clock, a locked zoom, no borders or clouds over the map. The game runs in the browser and as apps for iPhone and Android, in ten languages: English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese and German.

It suits geography fans who know the shapes on the map but want to test their sense of bearing across the globe.

How to play WhichWay.is

  1. Press Daily challenge; your starting country is lit up on the globe.
  2. Read the name and flag of the target country at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Drag the beam from your country in the direction you think the target lies.
  4. Press Submit to see how close you were and the coins you earned.
  5. Aim on from the target you just reached, through all ten rounds, then compare your score with everyone else's.

Tips

  • Get your bearings by continent or ocean first, then fine-tune the angle.
  • Remember the globe is round: the shortest way can cross a pole.
  • Replay past days from the calendar to practise.
