Trail Daily 32 on 29 October 2026: an orange line drawn from the ring down the left edge of a large board with walls, arrows, blue beamers, ice tiles, a key and a padlock

Trail is a one-line path puzzle: start at the ring and draw a single line that passes through every tile once, without crossing or doubling back. Besides an endless run of generated levels, it has a numbered Daily board that is the same for everybody, changes at midnight UTC and keeps your time and streak.

About Trail

Trail is a small logic game by Franz Enzenhofer that runs in the browser at trail.lalo.li (it moved there from trail.franzai.com in October 2026) and as a free iPhone app. Each board is a grid of tiles with a starting ring. You drag, or swipe, and the line runs from tile to tile. Tap a tile further along the same row or column and the line runs straight to it. The goal is to cover every tile exactly once.

The levels add rules as you go. Short walls between tiles block the way, and arrow tiles force the direction you leave them in. Beamers carry the line across the board, ice tiles make it slide, one-way doors let it pass in one direction only, and a key has to reach its lock before the path can finish. The main mode is a long sequence of generated levels that get a little harder each time, with a progress bar at the top and a hint button when you get stuck.

The Daily is a separate numbered board, labelled New today in the menu, and it is the same for every player. Daily 32 on 29 October 2026 was a large irregular board with walls, arrows, two beamers, a strip of ice and a key to carry up to a padlock. Solve it and you see your time and can share the result. The next one arrives at midnight UTC, and an optional reminder can tell you when it is up.

Trail is free, with no ads and no account, and the app plays offline. The web version can be switched between English and German. It suits players who like LinkedIn's Zip or other fill-the-grid path puzzles and want a short daily board alongside an endless practice mode.

How to play Trail

  1. Open Trail and choose Daily from the menu (marked New today).
  2. Start at the ring and drag or swipe to extend the line one tile at a time.
  3. Tap a tile further along the same row or column to run the line straight to it.
  4. Steer around walls and follow arrow tiles. Beamers, ice and one-way doors move the line in their own way, and a key must reach its lock.
  5. Cover every tile exactly once to solve the board, then share your result.

Trail level 26 on an iPhone: a green line winding through part of a 4 by 7 grid of tiles, with short walls between some tiles
Trail level 48: the line runs through arrow and ring tiles toward a padlock tile, with a key waiting at the bottom of the screen
Trail Daily 32 at phone size: the whole board fits the screen, with the ring on the left, a key at the bottom and a padlock near the top

Tips

  • Look at corners and dead-end tiles first: a tile with only one open neighbour must be where the line ends or passes in a fixed way.
  • Tiles boxed in by walls tell you which direction the line must take through them.
  • If the line turns red at a dead end, back up a few tiles rather than restarting.
  • Use the hint only on the move you are unsure of; the rest of the board usually follows.
