The Sound is a daily guess-the-sound game by Audio Noord. Each day one short clip of an everyday noise goes up for the whole world, and you name it in ten guesses from the game's word list. Hints arrive as you miss, and whoever needs the fewest guesses goes into the Hall of Fame.
About The Sound
The Sound puts up one mystery sound a day, a clip a few seconds long, and every player in the world hears the same one. You can play it as often as you like, and the answer is always an everyday thing you could find at home, in a kitchen or out on the street. Its two hosts, a blue rabbit called Earl and a yellow figure called Pop, react to each guess.
You get ten guesses, and only words from the game's list count. A guess in the right category, even a wrong one, makes Pop show the category, such as Home. After five misses a cleaner recording of the clip unlocks beside the rough one, and more misses bring a letter hint. A live feed beside the board shows who got today's sound and in how many tries, so you can see how the day is going.
A new sound starts at midnight Amsterdam time. Whoever names it in the fewest guesses goes into the Hall of Fame, and signing in puts your name on that board and lets you make leagues with friends. Today's sound needs no account at all: you only pick a nickname with your first guess. Your streak and fewest guesses stay on your device.
Past sounds sit in an archive, where you can replay any earlier round with the same hints. Nothing you guess there is sent anywhere. You can also record a sound of your own and send friends a link to see who can name it. In Halloween week the game dresses up with pumpkins and cobwebs. A second mode, The Weekly, is set to start on 2 November 2026: one sound runs all week for signed-in players, and the first to name it wins the week.
The game is free, made by Audio Noord in the Netherlands, and has no ads.

Tips
- Switch from Rough to Clean as soon as the cleaner clip unlocks. Details buried in the rough clip often come through.
- Guess broad first. A word from the right room or place reveals the category even when it misses.
- Play an old round in the archive to get a feel for the word list before you spend today's guesses.
