Talldle Daily #548 on desktop: a column of celebrity portraits under the Tallest label, with six empty columns for the guesses

Talldle is a daily sorting game about celebrity heights. You drag the day's famous people into a column from shortest to tallest, and colour feedback shows which are placed right, so six attempts are enough to work out the order.

About Talldle

Talldle asks a question most people only guess at: how tall are famous people, really? Each numbered daily puzzle shows a column of seven portraits, actors, musicians, scientists and royals among them, and you sort them from the shortest at the bottom to the tallest at the top.

You drag the tiles into place in the current column and enter the guess. Each tile then turns green when it is in the right spot, yellow when it is in the right order relative to the others but in the wrong spot, and grey when both its order and spot are wrong. The next column starts from your last guess, so you rearrange rather than rebuild, and you have six attempts to get the whole column green.

The page credits the makers, Andrew Collins and Riley Wong, with their own heights, and says it was inspired by Wordle. It plays in the browser with no account and no ads, and results can be shared as a grid of colours. There is one puzzle a day and no archive of past days.

It suits players who follow film and celebrity news, and it is a good quick game for a group, since everyone has a strong opinion about who is taller.

How to play Talldle

  1. Look at the day's portraits in the first column.
  2. Drag the tiles so the shortest person is at the bottom and the tallest at the top.
  3. Press Enter Guess and read the colours: green is the right spot, yellow the right order but wrong spot, grey neither.
  4. Rearrange in the next column and guess again, up to six times.
  5. Share your result once the column is all green.

Tips

  • Place the people you are surest of, often the very tall or very short, at the ends first.
  • Actors often look taller on screen than they are; trust the yellows over your memory of a film.
  • Move one or two tiles at a time between guesses so you can tell which change helped.
