Swahili Word League sets four words a day: one in Sheng, the Nairobi street slang, one in Swahili, one tied to East African culture, and a bonus word. Each comes with a clue in English, and you get four tries per word. Streaks, XP and a weekly leaderboard keep players coming back.
About Swahili Word League
Swahili Word League is a Kenyan daily word game on Quirklog. Its Cheza (play) tab holds four puzzles each day, the same for every player: a Sheng word, a Swahili word, a Culture word drawn from East African traditions, food and everyday life, and a Bonus word with the same rules. The day rolls over at midnight East Africa Time, and the page counts down to the next set.
Each word is shown with a dokezo, the Swahili word for a hint, written in English. On 29 October 2026 the Sheng clue was simply "Marijuana." You type a guess and the tiles turn green for a letter in the right spot and orange for one in the wrong spot. The grid has four rows, so there is little room to waste. Miss them all and the game tells you Jaribu tena kesho, try again tomorrow. A second hint that reveals one correct letter is free. Further hints cost cowrie, the game's own currency.
Around the puzzles sits a full league. Moto counts your daily streak, XP ranks you on the Ubao leaderboard, and you can join a squad. Logged-in players in several African countries can earn small airtime rewards for keeping a streak. A separate Mazoezi mode offers letter-wheel levels for practice, outside the daily reset, with a few free levels and a pass for more.
The interface is sprinkled with Swahili and comes with a glossary. It suits Kenyan players, Swahili learners and anyone curious about Sheng. The daily plays without an account.
