Sudoku X Mini is the Puzzle Society's small diagonal sudoku: a 6x6 grid in which every row, column and 2x3 box holds the digits 1 to 6 once, and so do the two diagonals that form an X across it. A new one comes each day on GoComics, with a subscription.

About Sudoku X Mini (Puzzle Society)

Sudoku X Mini is one of five sudoku games in the Puzzle Society set on GoComics from Andrews McMeel Universal, beside the classic daily sudoku, Sudoku Mini, Sudoku Mega and Sudoku X. The Puzzle Society calls it little but puzzling, since you cannot repeat a digit in the middle X either.

The grid is six by six with six boxes of two rows by three columns, and each row, column and box holds the digits 1 to 6 once. The two diagonals, shaded on the board, each hold 1 to 6 once as well. On so small a grid the extra rule matters a great deal: the diagonals cross every box, so a digit on one of them reaches far.

It takes a few minutes and sits between Sudoku Mini and the full Sudoku X in difficulty. Each day brings one grid, the same for every player.

How to play Sudoku X Mini (Puzzle Society)

Open Sudoku X Mini on the GoComics puzzles page and sign in with a GoComics subscription.
Look at the 6x6 grid: the two shaded diagonals run corner to corner.
Fill each empty square with a digit from 1 to 6.
Make sure no digit repeats in any row, column, 2x3 box or either diagonal, until the grid is full.

Tips

Check the diagonals first: with only six squares each, a few given digits leave little choice.
A 6x6 grid has no single centre square, but the four middle squares each sit on a diagonal.
When a row and a diagonal both miss the same digit, look at the square they share.
