Sudoku a Day

Sudoku a Day is made by Ocho, a Dutch studio, and came out on the App Store in March 2025. The idea is a sudoku app cut down to one daily habit. There are no endless puzzle lists and no ads. You open today's board, solve it, and get on with your day.

Every date has its own grid at each of five levels: Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert and Master. The board is the classic 9x9, where each row, column and 3x3 box must hold the digits 1 to 9 once. The app adds notes, a hint button, a mistake limit and a timer. Its settings let you hide the time, pick how digits are entered or allow more mistakes.

The same daily board can be played free on sudokuaday.com, at desktop or phone size, with no sign-up. Beside it sits a leaderboard of the fastest times that day from players around the world. A rating ladder ranks regular solvers by how many puzzles they finish and at which levels. In the app, friends can follow each other, watch replays of their solves and race through Game Center challenges.

Around the puzzle there are streaks, reminders, home screen widgets, dark mode and a focus mode. The website also has strategy guides and printable PDF sheets of the daily puzzles and a weekly pack. The app and the daily are free. Pro is a subscription or lifetime purchase that opens the archive of past puzzles and more hints. It suits anyone who wants one good sudoku a day and a fair way to measure it.
