Stardle
Rate itWordle for stargazers: guess the day's five-letter astronomy word in six tries.
on stardlegame.github.io

Stardle is a free Wordle variant where every answer has something to do with astronomy, from star names to telescope terms. You get six tries at the day's five-letter word, with streaks, a share grid and no ads.
About Stardle
Stardle borrows the rules of Wordle and points them at the night sky. Each day there is one hidden five-letter answer, the same for everyone, and it is always a word or name connected to astronomy: a star, a moon, a constellation, a piece of observing kit or a sky phenomenon.
Your guesses do not have to be astronomy words, just valid five-letter English words. After each guess the tiles change colour: blue for a letter in the right spot, yellow for a letter in the word but in another spot, and grey for a letter that is not in the word. You have six tries.
The game was built to show a short fun fact about the answer when the round ends. Its list of facts lines up with only one pass through the word bank, though, so on recent days (October 2026) the round ends with the statistics card and no fact. The word list and facts were put together by @lvanzell and the alistargazing site, and the page credits the original Wordle and the Canadian spin-off Canuckle as its base.
The answers come from a fixed bank of 176 astronomy words taken in order, one a day, so a regular player meets the same words again roughly every six months.
There is a statistics panel with streaks and a share button, a hard mode, a dark mode and a colour-blind setting. Nothing needs an account and the page shows no ads. It suits amateur astronomers, science teachers and Wordle players who know their Mizar from their Ariel.
How to play Stardle
- Type any valid five-letter word and press Enter.
- Read the colours: blue is right letter and spot, yellow is in the word elsewhere, grey is not in it.
- Use the clues to narrow down the astronomy word, with six tries in total.
- When the round ends, check your statistics and share your grid if you like.

Tips
- Think of star names, moons and constellations: answers can be proper names as well as common words.
- Open with a guess heavy in common letters, since your guesses need not be about astronomy.
- Turn on colour-blind mode in settings if blue and yellow are hard to tell apart.
Questions
Do my guesses have to be astronomy words?
No. Any valid five-letter word is accepted; only the answer is astronomy related.
Is it free?
Yes. It runs in the browser with no account and no ads.
When does the new word come out?
At midnight by your device's clock, with a countdown on the statistics card.
Do the words repeat?
Yes. The answers come in order from a bank of 176 words, so the list starts over about every six months.
Is there still a fun fact after each round?
The game was built to show one, but on recent days the round ends without it, because the list of facts covers only one pass through the word bank.
Who made the word list?
The page credits @lvanzell and alistargazing for the word list and fun facts.
