on sonarpuzzle.com

Sonar is a free daily logic puzzle with a naval look. Each grid is split into coloured sectors, and you mark where the enemy ships hide: one per row, one per column and one per sector, with no two ships touching. A new three-stage mission comes every day, from a 6x6 Easy board to a 9x9 Hard one, with a streak, a rating and friends to compare with.
About Sonar Puzzle
Sonar puts you on the deck of a warship hunting an enemy fleet, but the hunt is a pure logic grid. Each board is divided into coloured sectors. You place one enemy in every row, every column and every sector, and no two enemies may touch, not even at a corner. Anyone who has played LinkedIn's Queens will know the rule at once.
The daily mission has three stages. Easy is a 6x6 board, Medium an 8x8 and Hard a 9x9, and all three are built from the date, so everyone playing that day gets the same boards. Missions are numbered: mission #9 came out on 27 October 2026. When the game first opened in October it was a different puzzle, a hunt for hidden subs by distance pings, and it has since switched to this sector grid.
You mark cells with taps. One tap marks a square as an ally, which is how you cross out cells that cannot hold an enemy, and a double tap places an enemy, shown as a burning ship. The score starts climbing with each correct move. A wrong mark costs 50 points and shows no picture, and the undo button takes a move back. The Sonar sweep button points out the next forced step when you are stuck.
Only the daily mission moves your streak and your rating, which runs through ranks from Lieutenant up to Admiral. You can add friends by code to compare results and share a score card. A Practice section deals fresh Easy, Medium and Hard boards as often as you like. The game runs in the browser on a phone or a computer, needs no account and shows no ads. It suits players who already enjoy Queens or Star Battle and want three boards of rising size each day.
How to play Sonar Puzzle
- Open sonarpuzzle.com. Today's mission starts on the Easy stage, a 6x6 grid.
- Look at the coloured sectors. Each row, each column and each sector holds exactly one enemy.
- Tap a square once to mark it as an ally where no enemy can be. Tap again to undo, or drag to mark several.
- Double tap a square to place an enemy there. No two enemies may touch, diagonals included.
- Place every enemy to clear the stage, then go on to the Medium 8x8 and Hard 9x9 boards.
- Use Sonar sweep if you are stuck. It shows the next forced step.

Tips
- Start with the smallest sector. A sector of two or three cells leaves few places for its enemy.
- Once an enemy is placed, mark its row, its column and the eight squares around it as allies straight away.
- When a sector lies entirely in one row or column, no other sector can use that line.
- A wrong double tap costs 50 points, so mark allies first and place an enemy only when one square is left.
