Regularly No. 489 for Monday 19 October 2026: today's lead puzzle Quickword with its empty crossword grid, a streak panel, and Thred, Kingly and Paths below

Regularly is a daily puzzle site laid out like a morning paper. Each numbered edition brings a mini crossword called Quickword and five more puzzles, Thred, Kingly, Paths, Countable and Floored, across words, logic and numbers. Today's set is free with no sign-up and no ads; a Premium subscription opens past days.

About Regularly

Regularly is made by Regularly Ltd, a small London company, and is laid out like the front page of a morning paper. Every morning a new numbered edition appears, No. 489 on Monday 19 October 2026, with the same puzzles for everyone and a count of how many people have played each one today.

The lead puzzle is Quickword, a pocket-sized clued crossword. Thred asks you to trace one path through a grid of letters to spell each hidden word, with blank tiles showing the length of every answer. Kingly is a logic grid: place one king in every row, column and colour region, and never let two touch. Paths is a light-up puzzle in the manner of Akari, where numbered walls say how many bulbs sit beside them. Countable gives six numbers and a target to reach with sums. Floored is a word search where every word you find makes the letters above it fall.

Each puzzle page has a timer, a reset button and a short illustrated how-to. The home page keeps a weekly streak for you. Today's set is free with no account and no ads; a Premium subscription opens the whole back catalogue of earlier days. There is also a Regularly app for iPhone and iPad with the same daily set.

It suits players who like a varied handful of short puzzles each morning rather than one game.

How to play Regularly

  1. Open regularly.co to see today's numbered edition.
  2. Start with Quickword, the lead mini crossword, or pick any puzzle card below it.
  3. Read the short how-to beside the board; in Kingly, tap once to mark a cell with an X and twice to place a king.
  4. In Thred and Floored, drag through touching letters to spell a hidden word; the found word fills its row of tiles.
  5. Solve the puzzle against the timer, then go back to the home page for the next one.
  6. Come back the next morning for a new edition and to keep your streak going.

Tips

  • Do Quickword first as a warm-up; it is the shortest.
  • Kingly plays like a no-touch Queens puzzle: start in the smallest colour region and mark the cells around each king.
  • In Thred, look at the corners first: a word that starts there has only a few ways to go.
  • In Countable, get near the target with the big numbers, then adjust with the small ones.
