Pricer (Mind Loft)

Pricer is a price guessing game on Mind Loft, a free site of daily browser games. Each day one real product is shown to everyone, anything from hot sauce to a laptop, and the answer is the price Amazon listed for it on the date shown with the item.

You get three guesses, and each is worth less than the one before: the first scores up to 10, the second up to 6 and the third up to 3, and your best one counts. After each guess an arrow says higher or lower, and a temperature says how close you are, from Freezing to Burning. Closeness is measured as a ratio, so guessing half the price is as far off as guessing double. A guess within 1% is a bullseye and ends the day. Because the first read counts most, the game rewards a confident opening guess rather than slow bracketing.

The leaderboard ranks score first, then exactly how close you got, then fewer guesses, then time. You can type short forms such as 45k or 2.5m for large prices.

Pricer is also the first of five games in Mind Loft's Price Check, which plays Pricer, Dealer, Realtor, Agent and Curator back to back for one score out of 50. A new product goes up at midnight US Eastern Time, and past days are in Mind Loft's puzzle archive. Product links go to the store listing and carry Mind Loft's affiliate tag.
