Polydle's Daily 5-dle #1713 on a desktop: guesses CRANE and SLOTH coloured green and yellow across five boards side by side, above a split-colour keyboard

Polydle is a Wordle variant where you choose how many hidden words to solve at once, anywhere from 1 to 2,315. Every guess is a five-letter word scored against all the unsolved words together, and each count has its own numbered daily puzzle in Classic, Speed and Perfect modes.

About Polydle

Polydle takes the idea of Dordle and Quordle, several Wordles solved with the same guesses, and lets you pick the number. You enter how many words you want, from 1 up to 2,315, and the game lays out that many hidden five-letter words side by side. Each guess is played on every board you have not solved yet, and each board colours your letters on its own: green for the right letter in the right spot, yellow for a letter in the word but elsewhere, white for a letter that is not there. You scroll left and right to read them all.

Every number has its own daily puzzle, numbered like Daily 5-dle #1699, and so does each of the three modes: Classic, Speed and Perfect. That makes a shared daily for whatever size of challenge you and your friends settle on, from a single Wordle to a sprawling grid. Random games of any size are there too for practice.

Polydle was made in 2022 by Jack Boettcher, based on Freddie Meyer's Quordle, and runs free in the browser. It suits players who find four or eight boards too few or who want to set their own size of daily challenge.

How to play Polydle

  1. Open Polydle and type how many words you want to solve, from 1 to 2,315.
  2. Choose Classic, Speed or Perfect Polydle, then Daily.
  3. Type a five-letter word and press Enter; it is played on every unsolved board.
  4. Read each board's colours: green is right letter and spot, yellow is in the word elsewhere, white is not in the word.
  5. Keep guessing until every word is solved, in as few guesses as you can.

Tips

  • Pick an opening word with common, different letters so every board gets something to work with.
  • Solve the board with the most greens first: a finished word frees your next guesses for the rest.
  • With many boards, use guesses that test new letters rather than chasing one word.
