BLUFF puzzle 081, round 1 of 5, Capital check: Which one is the bluff? above five capital city statements, starting with The capital of St. Lucia is Gaborone

BLUFF is a daily fact game in five rounds. Each round shows five statements on one theme, four true and one confidently wrong, and you tap the one you think is the bluff. Your score, time and streak are recorded, and you can send a friend the same rounds to race.

About BLUFF

BLUFF serves one numbered puzzle a day, and everyone plays the same five rounds. Each round has a theme and five short statements. Four are true and one is false, written to sound just as sure as the rest, and your job is to find it.

You get one tap per round: your choice locks when you press it, and the game then shows the bluff and explains why it is wrong. The rounds step up in difficulty from a warm-up to a final bluff. On 5 October 2026, puzzle 81 ran from a capital city check through World Bank regions and income groups to two-letter country codes, with a statement such as The capital of St. Lucia is Gaborone hiding among true ones.

Finishing all five records your score, time and streak. Score is what counts and speed is for bragging rights. A VS button starts a friend battle, where you send a link and both of you play the same rounds on your own timers, and a community deck takes player-made bluffs, though it was empty on 22 October 2026. You can choose answers with the number keys 1 to 5.

On 22 and 23 October 2026 no new puzzle was out and the page showed only a message that BLUFF is taking a quick breather.

It is free in the browser with no sign-up. It suits players who like quick fact quizzes and spotting the odd one out.

How to play BLUFF

  1. Read the five statements in the round.
  2. Decide which one is false; the other four are true.
  3. Tap it, or press its number key, to lock your choice and see the answer explained.
  4. Play all five rounds, from the warm-up to the final bluff.
  5. Check your score and time, and send a friend battle link if you like.

Tips

  • Look for the statement that is a near miss: a real capital paired with the wrong country is a common bluff.
  • Rule out the four you are surest of first and the bluff is often what is left.
  • Rounds get harder as you go, so take more care with the last two.
  • Score counts more than time; there is no prize for answering fast and wrong.

Questions

How often is there a new BLUFF?

Once a day. Each puzzle is numbered, and everyone plays the same five rounds.

Can I change my answer?

No. Your choice locks as soon as you tap it, and the game then reveals the bluff and why it is false.

Can I play against a friend?

Yes. The VS button creates a battle link; your friend gets the same five rounds and their own timer, and you compare score and time.

Is BLUFF free?

Yes, it plays free in the browser without an account.

What if the page says BLUFF is taking a quick breather?

That is the message the game shows when the day's puzzle has not loaded or been published yet. Refresh later in the day.
