Real Bird Fake Bird is a daily real-or-fake quiz from Studio Folly, the makers of Gubbins. Each numbered day asks one question, such as which of seven titles are real James Bond films, and you mark every prompt real or fake. The topic changes each day of the week, and the game keeps your streak and average.
About Real Bird Fake Bird
Real Bird Fake Bird comes from Studio Folly, the studio behind the word game Gubbins. It began as a radio bit: Darcy Smith from the studio played it with a conservationist on a country radio show, guessing whether Australian birds were real or made up. The studio then turned it into a daily browser game with topics well beyond birds.
Each day has a number, a date and a topic, and every player gets the same set. A question heads the board, for example "are these real James Bond movies?", and seven prompts come up one at a time on a large card. You press Fake or Real for each. The card drops into a list below with your call and a tick or a cross, so you learn as you go. The number of fakes changes from day to day, and on some days all seven are fake.
Topics run on a weekly schedule: arts on Monday, people on Tuesday, food on Wednesday, world on Thursday, leisure on Friday, media on Saturday and nature on Sunday, with the odd special day. Each set is credited to an editor. At the end you see your score, how many players got each prompt right, the global average for the day and your own streak. A postcard of your result can be saved and shared.
It is free in the browser with no sign-up, and it works the same on a phone and a desktop. It suits trivia players who like a short daily quiz and anyone who enjoys how odd real names can sound.

Tips
- Do not assume a fixed number of fakes. Some days every prompt is fake.
- A fake is often a near miss, such as a real phrase that was never used as a title.
- Check the schedule in the info page to know which topic is coming tomorrow.
- Real names are often stranger than the invented ones, so an odd name is no proof of a fake.

Studio Folly, the studio that also makes Gubbins.
