Pivots is a small puzzle by Martin Kool of PuzzlePass.io, billed as the 1-D cube puzzle. The numbers 1 to 6 are shuffled in a row, and each move pivots a group of four of them; the goal is to get back to 1 2 3 4 5 6 in exactly the number of pivots the puzzle allows. Four daily puzzles, from Easy to Expert, are the same for everyone, with training and speedrun modes alongside.
About Pivots
Pivots takes the idea of a twisty cube puzzle and squeezes it into one dimension. A row holds the numbers 1 to 6 in a scrambled order, and a frame covers four neighbouring tiles. Moving the frame and pivoting turns those four tiles around; pivoting again undoes the move. Each puzzle shows a row of empty boxes, one for each pivot you are allowed, and your task is to find the sequence that restores 1 2 3 4 5 6 in exactly that many.
Each day's menu is dated and holds four daily pivots, generated from the date so every player faces the same set: Easy needs three pivots, Normal four, Hard five and Expert six. A countdown shows when the next set arrives, at midnight on your own clock. A Words switch on the daily menu replaces the numbers with letters, so the same puzzle becomes a scrambled six-letter word to restore. Hints are switched off in the daily puzzles.
To learn the techniques there is a short tutorial and a Training mode with hints, which can also show you where to move the frame. A Speedrun section adds three quick-pivot buttons for racing the clock, and the game keeps statistics, best times and a share text that shows which daily levels you solved.
The game was designed and built by Martin Kool, who publishes it under PuzzlePass.io. It is drawn in chunky pixel tiles with an optional CRT look, works with a mouse, a keyboard or swipes on a phone, and needs no account.
It suits fans of Rubik-style puzzles who want a short daily brain-teaser, and anyone who likes planning a few moves ahead.
How to play Pivots
- Open Pivots, choose Play, then Daily pivots.
- Pick a level: Easy, Normal, Hard or Expert. The boxes at the top show how many pivots you must use.
- Move the four-tile frame along the row (swipe on a phone) and pivot to turn those four tiles around; pivot again to undo.
- Plan a sequence that leaves the row as 1 2 3 4 5 6 using exactly the pivots allowed, and press Retry to start over.
- Solve all four daily levels, then share your result or practise in Training with hints.

Tips
- Work backwards: think about which last pivot would finish the row.
- A pivot can be undone by pivoting the same four tiles again, so try a move and take it back freely.
- Learn the two-pivot patterns in Training before tackling Hard and Expert.
- Turn on Words if letters are easier for you to track than digits.
- In Speedrun, use the three quick buttons rather than moving the frame.
Questions
Are the daily pivots the same for everyone?
Yes. They are generated from the date, so every player gets the same four puzzles that day.
When do new pivots arrive?
At midnight on your own device's clock. The daily menu shows a countdown to the next set.
Can I get hints?
Not in the daily pivots; hints are available in Training.
What is the Words option?
A switch on the daily menu that shows the same puzzles with letters, so you restore a six-letter word instead of 1 2 3 4 5 6.
Who made Pivots?
