Piction is a phone word game built around a single photo each day. You work out the word that names what is in the picture and find it in six guesses, with green, yellow and gray letters telling you how close you are. Everyone sees the same photo on the same day, and a weekly board ranks the players.
About Piction
Piction mixes a picture riddle with the letter feedback of Wordle. Each day the app shows one photo, and behind it sits one word that names what is in it. You type guesses, and every letter comes back colored: green for the right letter in the right place, yellow for a letter that belongs elsewhere in the word, gray for one that is not in it at all. You have six tries.
The photo is your main clue, but it rarely gives the answer away outright. A picture of ice skates beside a bench could be SKATE, BLADE or RINK, so the letter colors from a first guess do a lot of the work. Answers run from four to six letters, and the listing says most of them are six.
Everyone gets the same photo on the same day, so results can be compared, and after solving you can share a card that shows how you did without the answer. The app keeps a streak of the days you played and a weekly ranking with points per solve. Hints are available when you are stuck: some are given free as you play, and hint packs can be bought.
Piction is made by Oye LLC and came out on the App Store in January 2026, with a Google Play version linked from its site. You can start without an account; signing in with Apple or Google keeps your progress across devices and puts you on the weekly board. It suits Wordle players who like a picture to start from.
How to play Piction
- Open the app and look at the day's photo.
- Type a word of the right length that might name what is pictured.
- Read the colors: green is the right letter in the right place, yellow is in the word elsewhere, gray is not in the word.
- Use the photo and the colors together to narrow it down within six tries.
- Share your result card and come back after midnight for a new photo.

Tips
- Before typing, list a few words the photo could mean, then pick the one with the most common letters as your opener.
- Think of the object, the activity and the place shown: the answer may be any of them.
- A wrong guess still rules letters out, so use early guesses to test new letters rather than repeat greens.
- Save hints for the last two rows, where a single letter can settle it.
