Neighborle is a daily geography game about borders. Each day it highlights one country or territory on a map and asks you to list all of its neighbours. You have five lives, so up to four wrong answers, and a hint can narrow a guess to four options at the cost of a life.
About Neighborle
Neighborle shows the day's country in colour on a world map, with a counter of how many neighbours it has. You pick countries from a dropdown list, and each correct neighbour is marked on the map. Two countries count as neighbours if they share a land border or are joined by a bridge, and the CIA World Factbook is used to settle disputed areas.
You start with five lives. A wrong pick costs one, and the hint button, which shows four countries of which one is a neighbour, also costs one, with another lost if you then choose wrongly. For a harder game you can hide the borders on the map in the settings.
The daily country is chosen from the date, stepping through a fixed list of 164 countries, so everyone faces the same one and each country returns after about five and a half months. Your stats and streak are kept in your browser, and a result can be copied to share. The page carries ads. The site also has unlimited versions on the internal maps of Brazil, France, Germany, Great Britain and the USA, and a separate daily flag game, Neighborle Flags.
It suits players who like maps and want to test whether they really know which countries touch, from tiny enclaves to countries with nine or more neighbours.
How to play Neighborle
- Open Neighborle and look at today's highlighted country and the neighbour count.
- Select a country you think borders it from the dropdown.
- Correct answers appear on the map; wrong ones cost a life.
- Use the hint for four options, of which one is a neighbour, if you are stuck (it costs a life).
- Find every neighbour before your five lives run out.

Tips
- Work around the border in one direction so you do not skip a neighbour.
- Remember bridges count, so think about neighbours across narrow straits.
- Small territories and enclaves often catch players out.
- Turn off borders in settings once the standard game feels easy.
