Bordlr Daily #122 on 28 October 2026, Latvia to Mali, par 8: Russia, Algeria and Georgia placed and lit up on the world map below the guess box

Bordlr is a daily geography puzzle about the places in between. You get two countries, or two US states, and name neighbouring regions one at a time until your route links them by land, scored out of 200 for using few regions and for keeping the route short.

About Bordlr

Bordlr is a free browser geography game by shwrk, played at bordlr.com and on itch.io. Each puzzle shows two targets on a world map, for example Portugal and Vietnam, along with a par. Your job is to join them with a chain of regions that border each other.

You type any country that borders one of the two targets or a region already on your route, and accepted guesses light up on the map, so the chain can grow from both ends until they meet. Only real land borders count, plus three fixed crossings: the Oresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden, the King Fahd Causeway between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, and the Johor to Singapore causeway. There are no ferries and no ocean hops, which is why island nations never appear inside a chain.

Each solve earns up to 100 points for using as few regions as the shortest possible chain and up to 100 for matching the shortest real-world distance, measured between region centres, for a total out of 200. The two do not always agree: a route through a few large countries can cover more kilometres than one through several small ones.

The daily puzzle is numbered and the same for everyone. It changes at midnight local time, with world countries on most days and a US-states board every third day. A Weekly tab adds one more route each week, counted from Monday, and in our read it carried the coming Thursday's daily route early. Practice mode gives unlimited extra puzzles on either board. A hint shows a useful region without placing it and costs 10 points.

The results card lists your route beside the fewest-regions route and the shortest-distance route, so you can see where you lost points. Results can be shared as an emoji grid or an image, and a friend can be sent the same route as a challenge. Private leagues keep a table for a group with no account needed. The site also has country and US state border atlases and featured border paths for study. It suits people who like map trivia and want something more strategic than naming a single country.

How to play Bordlr

  1. Open bordlr.com on the Daily tab and read the two targets and the par.
  2. Type a country or US state that borders either target, or any region already on your route, and press Enter.
  3. Watch each accepted guess light up on the map. A guess that touches nothing on your route is rejected.
  4. Keep adding neighbours from both ends until the two sides join.
  5. Read your two scores out of 100 and compare your route with the two best routes on the results card.
  6. Share the result, or try the Weekly tab and Practice for more routes.

Tips

  • Work from both ends; the chain does not have to grow from one side.
  • Big transit countries such as Russia, China, Brazil or Sudan close large gaps in one guess but can cost you on distance.
  • Learn the choke points: Panama and Colombia are the only land link between the Americas, and Egypt and Israel join Africa to Asia.
  • Ferries do not count, so an island country can only be on a route through one of the three fixed crossings, as Singapore and Bahrain are.

Questions

Is the Bordlr daily the same for everyone?

Yes. There is one numbered daily puzzle, the same for every player.

When does a new Bordlr puzzle come out?

At local midnight. Most days use world countries, and every third day uses US states.

How is Bordlr scored?

Up to 100 points for using as few regions as possible and up to 100 for the shortest distance between region centres, for a total out of 200.

Is Bordlr free?

Yes. It is free in the browser with no account or download, on bordlr.com and on itch.io.

Does Bordlr have hints?
