The Nano Crossword

The Nano is the smallest crossword on Greatest Games: a wide-open 4x4. With no black squares, every row and every column is a four-letter word, and every square is checked twice, once by its across answer and once by its down. That makes it forgiving to solve, since each letter you are sure of helps two answers.

Play works like any crossword: tap a square and type, tap again or press space to switch between Across and Down, and use Tab or the clue list to move. On a phone an on-screen keyboard sits under the grid with the current clue above it. The clock is your score, and a Check menu checks the grid or reveals a square or a word, at a cost in points. Most players finish in under a minute, then get a results card with their time and a share button.

The Nano Crossword is one of the daily games on Greatest Games, a site of word and logic puzzles that began its Nano archive in August 2026.
