Mindset GO!

Mindset GO! is built on sets. A board shows one or more dashed circles and a row of shapes: circles, squares and triangles in different colours, filled or outlined. Each circle stands for a rule you are not told, such as blue shapes or shapes with corners. You slide shapes into a circle, into an overlap or leave them outside, and the game's answers to your moves are how you learn what each circle wants.

The game opens on a map of levels that starts with a short tutorial: the first board simply asks you to slide five triangles into one circle, and later boards add more circles, overlaps and trickier properties. Alongside the map there is a daily puzzle shared by everyone that day, a timed Daily Blitz, a harder Daily Challenge for players on a streak of three days or more, and weekly themed events, such as a Trick or Treat event in October, that unlock bonus shape sets in other styles, from dice and playing cards to fruit and animals. On the web the Daily button stays locked for a new player until some of the map has been played.

Mindset GO! comes from Magicave, whose team lists work on Pixelgrams, Chime and Stardew Valley. It is free on iOS and Android and also runs in the browser at mindset.game with no account. The apps show adverts and sell a Remove Ads purchase, hint packs and tokens; map levels cost tokens, which players earn by playing or can buy, and some players find the token limit gets in the way.

It suits players who like working out a hidden rule from evidence, in the spirit of Zendo or a Venn diagram quiz, more than filling a grid.
