Mergeon is a daily merge puzzle on itch.io. You swipe to slide and combine matching number tiles on a 5x5 board, and every player in the world gets the same tile sequence that day. Combos from chained merges add to the score, and a new deal arrives at midnight UTC.
About Mergeon
Mergeon, by Jelonman, takes the slide-and-merge idea of 2048 and makes it a daily game. The board is 5x5, one row and column larger than the classic 4x4, which gives more room to build. You swipe or press an arrow key, every tile slides as far as it can, and two equal tiles that meet merge into one of double the value.
The difference is the deal. In most merge games the tile that appears after each move is random for every player. In Mergeon both the value of the next tile and the empty cell it lands in are drawn from the UTC date, so the whole world plays the same sequence on a given day, and the game says "same deal worldwide today" above the board. That makes a score a fair comparison: if a friend scored more, they played the same tiles better.
Your score is the total value of your merges, and chaining several merges in one move adds a combo bonus. The run ends when the board is full with no move left. The end card shows your score, your best tile, today's best, your all-time best and a day streak, all kept in your browser with no account. Play again replays the same deal, and Challenge a friend copies a link with your score; whoever opens it sees a banner daring them to beat it.
It plays in the browser on itch.io, with arrow keys on a desktop and swipes on a phone, and a new deal starts at midnight UTC. It suits anyone who has played 2048 and wants one shared game a day to compare.
How to play Mergeon
- Open Mergeon on itch.io, press Run game, then PLAY TODAY'S DEAL.
- Swipe on a phone or press an arrow key to slide every tile in one direction.
- Merge two equal tiles into one tile of double the value; the next tile of the day's deal then appears.
- Chain several merges in one move for a combo bonus.
- Keep going until the board is full with no move left, then press Challenge a friend to share your score.

Tips
- Keep your largest tile in one corner and build towards it.
- Use the extra row and column of the 5x5 board as a buffer for small tiles.
- Since the deal is the same for everyone, compare notes with a friend after you both play.
- Look for moves that set up two merges at once to build chains.
Questions
Is the Mergeon deal the same for everyone?
Yes. The next tile and the cell it lands in are drawn from the UTC date, so every player gets the same sequence that day.
When does a new deal start?
Every day at midnight UTC; the title screen counts down to it.
How is it different from 2048?
It uses a 5x5 board, adds a combo bonus for chained merges, and gives everyone the same tiles each day.
Can I play again?
Yes. Play again restarts the same day's deal, and your best score of the day is kept.
Is it free?
Yes. It plays free in the browser on itch.io with no account and no ads.
