The Math Slide board of 18 October 2026 in a browser: the middle row reads 5 * 5 + 2 = 27 in green, with other numbers and signs above and below, timer at 0:26

Math Slide is a timed daily arithmetic puzzle from PEMDAS Games. You slide columns of numbers and signs up and down so the middle row reads a true equation, and each tile used turns green. Turn every tile green as fast as you can and see your time on the day's leaderboard.

About Math Slide (PEMDAS)

Math Slide is the numbers sibling of PEMDAS Games' Word Slide. The board is a row of columns, some holding numbers, some holding signs such as plus, minus, times and divide, and one holding the equals sign and the results. Only the middle row counts: you slide each column up or down until that row reads an equation that is true.

Every tile that sits in the middle row while it makes a true equation turns green, and the puzzle is done when every tile on the board has turned green. So one good equation is not enough: you have to find a set of equations that between them use every number and every sign. On the board for 18 October 2026, 5 * 5 + 2 = 27 was one of them, and the other numbers still had to find a home.

A new board comes each day, the same for every player, and a clock runs from the first move. Your time is ranked on the day's leaderboard, and you can make groups to compare times with friends. A light bulb gives a hint when you are stuck, and past days stay on the home screen to play. The first game opens with a short tutorial board.

Math Slide plays in the browser at pemdasapp.com and in the free Pemdas app for iPhone and Android, beside Speed Word, Word Slide and Speed Stars. It has no ads and needs no account. It suits players who like Typeshift-style column puzzles and quick mental arithmetic.

How to play Math Slide (PEMDAS)

  1. Open Math Slide on pemdasapp.com or in the Pemdas app and pick today's board.
  2. Look at the columns: numbers, signs, the equals sign and a column of results.
  3. Drag a column up or down to change what sits in the middle row.
  4. When the middle row reads a true equation, its tiles turn green.
  5. Keep making new true equations until every tile on the board has turned green; the clock stops and you see your rank.

Tips

  • Start from the results column: each result narrows which numbers and signs can reach it.
  • Remember the order of operations: in 5 * 5 + 2 the multiplication comes first.
  • Plan equations that use the numbers left grey rather than repeating tiles that are already green.
  • Use the light bulb only when stuck; the clock keeps running while you think.

Questions

How do you win Math Slide?

Every tile on the board has to turn green. A tile turns green when it sits in the middle row of a true equation, so you need several equations that between them use every tile.

Is Math Slide free?

Yes. It is free on the web, iOS and Android, with no ads and no account needed for the daily board.

Can I play past days?

Yes. The home screen lists the boards of earlier days beside today's.

Does it follow the order of operations?

Yes. Multiplication and division are worked before addition and subtraction, as the game's PEMDAS name suggests.
