Lex.Games Crossword Tech Prefixes, the free Sunday puzzle of 18 October 2026: an empty 15x15 grid with 1-Across highlighted beside the Across and Down clue lists

The Lex.Games Crossword is a full-size, themed American-style crossword written by Lex Friedman and published every day on Lex.Games and in its iOS app. Sunday puzzles are free to everyone, with no ads; the rest of the week and the archive are for premium subscribers.

About Lex.Games Crossword

Lex.Games is a puzzle site run by crossword constructor Lex Friedman, home to word games such as Conlextions, Lexicogs, By A Vowel, Six Appeal, Square Dance and a daily Mini crossword. The full-size Crossword is one of its two premium games, beside the peg-sorting Mind Control: a 15x15 grid with a title, dated each day, in the American style with symmetrical black squares.

The crossword started as a weekly puzzle for subscribers in March 2024 and has run every day since the end of that month; the archive counts more than 950 puzzles. Titles such as Tech Prefixes, George Harrison's Bandmates or Canned Goods, Sorta point at the theme entries, and the clues lean on pop culture, music, TV and tech. Holidays get their own grid: Christmas Day brought Christmas Take-Out in 2024 and Dec 25 in 2025, and some days are themeless.

Sunday crosswords are marked free and open to anyone without logging in. The other six days, and older puzzles in the archive, need a logged-in premium account. The player has an Autocheck box and Reveal for a square, a word or the whole grid; on a phone the grid fills the screen with the current clue in a bar and an on-screen keyboard below it. The page carries no ads, and Lex.Games keeps leaderboards across its games.

It suits regular crossword solvers who want one more themed daily grid with a light, pop-culture-friendly voice, and who are happy to support an independent constructor.

How to play Lex.Games Crossword

  2. Read the puzzle's title for a hint at the theme.
  3. Click or tap a square and type answers to the Across and Down clues; clicking the same square again switches direction.
  4. Tick Autocheck to see wrong letters, or use Reveal for a square, a word or the whole puzzle if you are stuck.
  5. Fill the whole grid to finish, then look at the archive for earlier puzzles.

Tips

  • Start with fill-in-the-blank clues, which tend to be the easiest way in.
  • Try the free Sunday puzzle first to get a feel for the constructor's style before subscribing.
