on lex.games

Conlextions is Lex.Games' daily puzzle in the style of the New York Times Connections: a grid of sixteen terms hides four groups of four, and you pick four at a time to find each group, told when you are one word away. Solves are timed and ranked on that day's leaderboard, and every earlier puzzle is in a free archive.
About Conlextions
Conlextions is one of the daily word games Lex Friedman makes for Lex.Games, and the site credits the New York Times Connections as its inspiration. Each numbered puzzle shows sixteen words or names. They split into four groups of four, every item belongs to exactly one group, and some items are planted to look as if they fit more than one.
Puzzle #1137, dated 20 October 2026, laid out words such as manuscript, folio, galley, keel, rudder, stern, cockpit, runway, rigid and harsh: several could belong to more than one likely group, which is the trap the game is built around.
You select four items and submit. The game tells you if the set is right, wrong, or just one word away, and it does not end the game after a set number of mistakes. If you are stuck, A Little Help selects two words from one group and A Lotta Help selects a whole group, and a Shuffle button rearranges the grid. A timer runs from the start, finished solves go on that puzzle's leaderboard, and the share button copies your result. When you are done the site points you to the next Lex.Games daily, Six Appeal.
Conlextions is free on the web and in the Lex.Games app for iPhone and iPad, with no ads; an optional upgrade unlocks the PRO games (the full crossword and Mind Control). The archive lists every puzzle back to the first, sorted by date or difficulty, with a random pick. It suits Connections players who want a second grid each day, with a clock and a leaderboard.
How to play Conlextions
- Open lex.games/connections and read all sixteen items before selecting anything.
- Click four items you think share a connection and press Submit.
- If the set is right it is locked in as a group; if the game says one word away, swap one item and try again.
- Use Shuffle to see the grid in a new order, or A Little Help (two words of a group) or A Lotta Help (a whole group) if you are stuck.
- Keep going until all four groups are found, then share your time or check the day's leaderboard.

Tips
- Look for an item that could fit two groups and leave it until the end; the planted overlaps are the main trap.
- Find the most specific group first (names from one show, styles of one music genre) before broad ones.
- One word away means three of your four are right; change the one you were least sure of.
- The clock is running, but a wrong guess costs more than a few seconds of thought.
