Invisible Color daily board for 2026-10-21 at desktop size: nine identical dark circles in a 3x3 grid with green, yellow and grey borders, arrow buttons on every row and column, Moves 0, Colors 4

Invisible Color is a small daily logic puzzle. Nine identical circles hide their colours and the target pattern is hidden too; you scroll rows and columns of a wrapping 3x3 board, and each circle's border tells you whether its colour is in the right square, belongs in that row or column, or not there at all. Solve the day's board in as few moves as you can.

About Invisible Color

Invisible Color is a browser puzzle shown on Hacker News in July 2026 as a daily logic game. Each day's board is generated from the date in UTC, so everyone plays the same one, and the result can be shared as a line of text with your move count.

The board is a 3x3 grid of circles that all look the same. Each hides one of four colours, and somewhere there is a target arrangement of those colours, where some colours repeat; neither the colours nor the target are ever shown. You move circles by scrolling whole rows left or right and whole columns up or down, and the board wraps around at the edges. Each circle's border is the only clue: green means its colour is in the right square, yellow means the colour belongs somewhere in that row or column, and a plain grey ring means it does not. You can tap a circle to write a note on it, and Give Up reveals the answer.

The number of colours sets the difficulty, and fewer colours make the puzzle harder because more circles look alike in the feedback. The daily always uses four. A practice mode from the New Game menu deals unlimited boards with 3 to 9 colours, each with a link you can send to someone else.

It suits players who like Mastermind-style deduction and sliding puzzles and want a short daily brain teaser with no sign-up and no ads.

How to play Invisible Color

  1. Open invisible-color.xyz; the day's board loads with its date under the title.
  2. Look at the border of each of the nine circles: green, yellow or grey.
  3. Press an arrow to scroll a row sideways or a column up or down; the board wraps around.
  4. Read the borders again: green is the right square, yellow is in this row or column, grey is not here.
  5. Keep moving until every circle shows green, in as few moves as you can, then share your move count.

Tips

  • Leave circles with a green border alone and plan moves that bring them back into place.
  • Tap a circle to tag it with what you have learned about its colour.
  • A grey ring rules out a whole row and column for that colour, which is often more useful than a yellow one.
  • Practise with more colours first: the feedback is easier to read than in the four-colour daily.

Questions

Is the board the same for everyone?

Yes. The daily board is generated from the date in UTC, so every player gets the same one, and it changes at midnight UTC.

Is there a way to play more?

Yes. The New Game menu starts practice boards with 3 to 9 colours, as many as you like.

Is it free?

Yes. It plays in the browser with no account and no ads.
