on infixion.app

Infixion is a daily word game built around an infix, a short string of letters shown at the top of the screen. You enter four different words that contain it, each scored by the rarity of its other letters, with every repeated letter worth one point less. Your total goes on a leaderboard for that day's infix.
About Infixion
Infixion is a small web word game by Digitulp, also listed on itch.io. Each day it shows one infix, a fragment such as ATE or EAL, and every player works with the same fragment. Once you submit your four words, your total is ranked on a global leaderboard for that day's infix, and you can share your score.
The task is to write four unique words that each contain the infix somewhere inside them, at the start, in the middle or at the end, and every word must add at least one letter outside it. Letters outside the infix score by rarity: E, R or S are worth 1, J is 8, Z 9 and Q 10. Each letter is worth one point less every time you use it again across your words, and it can go below zero, so a fifth or sixth E costs you points. The on-screen keyboard shows what each letter is worth right now and turns orange or red as its value drops. Using the infix more than once in a single word earns a large bonus.
That makes it a planning puzzle more than a vocabulary test: a long word scores well on its own but uses up letters the other three words need. With SKATE and WHATEVER on the board, for example, the keyboard already shows S, E and R at zero. Words can be removed and replaced until you press Submit, which locks them in for the day.
It suits players who like Scrabble-style letter values and want a short daily challenge with a score to beat. You can play as a guest with no sign-up; an account, including sign-in with itch.io, keeps your progress, streaks and badges, and the game can send a reminder to play the next day.
How to play Infixion
- Look at the day's infix at the top of the screen.
- Type a word that contains the infix and adds at least one letter outside it, then press Enter.
- Check the points over each letter; a letter you have already used is worth one point less each time.
- Fill all four rows with different words, swapping any word out from its menu if a better one comes to mind.
- Press Submit to lock in your words and see your rank on the day's leaderboard.

Tips
- Spread your words across different letters, since a letter used four or five times starts to cost points.
- Rare letters such as Q, Z, X and J are worth 8 to 10, so look for words around the infix that use them.
- A word that holds the infix twice earns a large bonus, so check whether the fragment can repeat inside one word.
- Plan all four words before submitting, since they cannot be changed afterwards.
Questions
What is an infix?
A string of letters that must appear inside each of your words, for example ATE in skate or whatever.
How is the score worked out?
Letters outside the infix score by rarity, from 1 for common letters to 10 for Q, and a letter is worth one point less each time you repeat it, going below zero if you keep reusing it.
Is there a new infix every day?
Yes. Everyone gets the same infix each day, with a leaderboard for that infix.
Do I need an account?
No, you can play as a guest. An account, which can be an itch.io sign-in, keeps your progress, streaks and badges across devices.
Does Infixion have ads?
We saw no ads in the game or ad scripts in its page.
