InfiniteAlchemy is the daily crafting game on Zalize Daily Games. Start with four basic elements, combine two at a time, and reach the day's target element in as few steps as you can. Every player shares the same recipes, and first discoveries carry the finder's name.

About InfiniteAlchemy (Zalize)

InfiniteAlchemy starts every player with the four classic elements and lets you combine any two to make something new. The results are generated on the fly, so the tree of things you can make is open-ended, but every player gets the same recipes, so a combination gives the same result for everyone.

Each day brings a short warm-up goal that keeps your streak alive and one global master target. The challenge is to reach that target in as few fusing steps as possible, and the game shows the length of the official path to beat (12 steps on the Saturday we looked, with a warm-up of about 4). Sundays are Reverse Day: you see a finished element and have to work out which two elements combine straight into it, and a Sunday never breaks your streak.

A sandbox mode lets you craft with no goal; anything you find there carries over to the daily. If you are the first player anywhere to discover an element, your name is attached to it.

Zalize Daily Games, at daily.zalize.com, is a free set of small browser games from zalize.com, each with one puzzle a day that is the same for every player in the world. All of them switch at midnight UTC. There is no account: streaks and statistics stay in your browser and can be moved to another device with a sync code, and playing every game on the same day earns a Perfect Day badge. The site is offered in ten languages.

Tips

Think about what the target is made of and work backwards one step at a time.
Basic combinations (Water plus Fire, Earth plus Wind) open many branches; make them early.
Use sandbox mode to explore without spending daily steps.
Elements found in sandbox carry over, so a little exploring pays later.
