How Puzzling gauntlet puzzle #266, round 1 of 3: a medium Hashi board of numbered islands with a running timer, Hint and Check buttons

How Puzzling is a daily logic gauntlet: three pencil-puzzle grids in a row, each harder than the last, solved against the clock. The types rotate among classics such as Hashi, Suguru, Binairo, Shikaku and Slitherlink, and two lighter daily sets and a weekly challenge sit beside it.

About How Puzzling

How Puzzling gathers pencil puzzles from the Japanese and European logic traditions into one daily routine. The main event, the Daily Gauntlet, is three puzzles in a row with rising difficulty under a running timer, and you try to beat your best time. Today's gauntlet, puzzle 266, opened with a medium Hashi board of numbered islands to join with bridges.

The Learn section lists the types in rotation: Shikaku, Light Up, Hashi, Suguru, Binairo, Fillomino, Slitherlink, Kurodoko, Thermometers, Nagareru, Sto-Stone, Herugolf and more, each with its rules and a short how-to box shown before you first play it. Every board has undo, a hint button and a check button.

Two smaller daily sets add variety: The Daily, three tiny puzzles that go by fast, and Daily Fix, three quick easy puzzles as a warm-up. A Weekly Challenge offers twelve extra-large puzzles across the week, and Practice gives unlimited puzzles of any type.

The site tracks streaks across the week, awards achievements and keeps stats. It plays without an account; signing in with Google is optional and links your progress across devices. It is made by David Berget and shows no ads.

It suits players of Nikoli-style logic puzzles who want a varied, timed workout each day rather than one type over and over.

Tips

  • Read an unfamiliar type's rules in Learn before starting the timed gauntlet.
  • Do The Daily or Daily Fix first as a warm-up.
  • In Hashi, start with islands whose number forces every possible bridge, such as a 4 in a corner.
  • In Binairo, look for pairs that force the next cell's value.
  • Use Practice to learn a type you keep getting stuck on.
