Cut five 3D objects a day exactly in half, by weight.

on halfsies.dev

Halfsies No. 28 board: object 1 of 5, a wooden chess pawn, with the knife line being drawn and the Hold to peek and Cut buttons below

Halfsies gives you five 3D objects a day, from a chess pawn to a watermelon, and asks you to slice each one so both halves weigh the same. You draw the cut, the pieces drop onto a scale, and your score is your average miss. Afterwards you can see where everyone else cut.

About Halfsies

Halfsies is a daily test of your eye for volume and weight. Each day has a numbered set of five 3D objects, the same for every player, running from two easy warm-ups through two medium ones to a hard final object. You draw a line across the object, fine-tune it with its two handles, and press Cut. The two pieces fall onto a kitchen scale that shows each half's share of the weight.

The catch is that halfway along an object is rarely half its weight. A pawn carries most of its mass in its base, a pear at its bottom, and later objects mix materials, so a light part and a heavy part sit side by side. You can hold to peek before you commit, and the arrows say which side came out heavier.

Your score for the day is your average miss across the five cuts, and after each cut you can see where everyone else sliced the same object. Objects you cut go into a cabinet to collect, a streak counts the days you play, and Dare a friend sends someone the same object in the same pose to beat your cut.

Finishing the day unlocks a bonus round of thirds, where you cut into three equal parts, and Endless mode gives a run of objects with three lives. Past days can be played from a calendar. Halfsies is made by Isaac Audet, free in the browser and on the App Store, and part of DLE Club, which links his daily games into one gauntlet with an optional sign-in. The site carries Google ads and the app shows small banners on menus and results, with optional videos for an extra life or a streak freeze.

How to play Halfsies

  1. Press Play today to start the day's five objects.
  2. Drag across the object to draw your cut, then move its handles to fine-tune where it falls.
  3. Hold to peek if you want a second look, then press Cut.
  4. The pieces drop onto a scale that shows each side's share; aim for 50 to 50.
  5. Cut all five objects; your score is the average miss, and you can compare it with where everyone else cut.

Tips

  • Think about where the mass sits, not where the middle is: move the cut towards the wide or dense end.
  • Watch the material line: an object made of two materials is not balanced by its shape alone.
  • Practise in Endless or on past days before you play the daily set.
