Guess the Ticker is a daily puzzle about memecoins. Each day there is one mystery coin and six attempts to name its ticker; each wrong guess unlocks another clue drawn from real market data. The board opens only after you sign a free message with a Solana wallet.
About Guess the Ticker
Guess the Ticker calls itself the daily memecoin puzzle. Each day at midnight UTC it picks one real token from the world of internet-meme cryptocurrencies, the kind with tickers like DOGE, PEPE or BONK, and everyone gets the same coin and six attempts to name its ticker.
A wrong guess unlocks the next clue, in a fixed order: the coin's origin, its theme, its market size, the first letter of its ticker, its story, and finally its name with letters masked. Guesses are checked on the server, so the answer stays hidden until the game ends. Market data, launch dates and artwork come from DexScreener's public API, and the reveal screen shows the coin's market numbers with links to outside charts.
The game page asks you to connect a Solana wallet such as Phantom, Solflare or Backpack and sign one free message before the board opens; it says this keeps the leaderboard honest and that no transaction is made. Its About page says a wallet is never required, but the daily, the archive boards and practice all showed the connect prompt when we opened them. There is no token and no paid entry, and the site says plainly that nothing on it is financial advice.
Solves score from 100 points in one guess down to 20 in six, weighted by the day's difficulty, on a daily leaderboard. On days that sponsors or tippers fund a prize pool in SOL, the top three split it. Every past board since the first, on 29 August 2026, stays in the archive, and there is a practice mode. It was shared on Show HN in September 2026 as a Wordle for memecoins.
It suits players who follow crypto markets and already have a Solana wallet; anyone without one cannot reach the board.
How to play Guess the Ticker
- Open the site and connect a Solana wallet, signing one free message.
- Type a ticker as your first guess.
- After each wrong guess, read the new clue: origin, theme, market size, first letter, story, then the masked name.
- Name the coin within six attempts; fewer guesses score more points.
- Check the day's rankings, or play past boards from the archive.
Tips
- The market size clue rules out most coins at once: match it against what you know of the big and small memecoins.
- A solve in fewer tries scores more, but a miss scores nothing, so if you are unsure it can pay to wait for the first-letter clue.
- Past boards in the archive are a good way to learn how the clues behave.
