Gridle's driver stage on 21 October 2026 after one guess: Lando Norris's row of team, nationality, number, age, podiums, titles and debut tiles, with yellow higher or lower arrows

Gridle is a free daily Formula 1 guessing game. Each day you name a mystery driver from colour-coded clues on team, nationality, number, age, podiums, titles and debut, then go on to three more stages: a track, a team livery and a team radio quote. Results can be shared, and signing in is optional.

About Gridle

Gridle is a browser game for Formula 1 fans that works like the many -dle games built on Wordle's idea: one shared puzzle a day, solved by narrowing down guesses from the clues each one gives back. Its driver pool follows the current F1 grid, so team moves and new constructors show up in the answers.

The day starts with the driver stage. You type the name of any current driver, and a row of tiles compares that driver with the answer: team and nationality turn green when they match, while car number, age, podiums, world titles and debut year turn yellow with an arrow pointing higher or lower. Guesses are unlimited, so the stage is about how quickly you close in rather than whether you survive.

Once the driver is found, three more stages follow in the same session: guess the circuit, the team from its livery, and the source of a well-known team radio message. All four change together once a day and everyone plays the same set. The game's FAQ names midnight Central European Time, while its code picks the driver by the UTC date. The driver list holds the 22 drivers of the 2026 grid, Cadillac's included, and the driver of the day steps through them in a fixed order, so each one returns every 22 days; the circuit, livery and quote stages give the day more to do.

No account is needed to play. Signing in only keeps your streak and puts you on a global leaderboard, and a finished day gives you a result grid to share with friends. Gridle suits fans who follow the current season closely and want more than a single guess-the-driver puzzle each day.

How to play Gridle

  1. Open playgridle.com; stage 1 of 4, the driver, is ready to play.
  2. Type the name of a current Formula 1 driver and pick it to make a guess.
  3. Read the tiles: green is a match, yellow with an arrow means the answer's number, age, podiums, titles or debut is close and higher or lower, grey is wrong.
  4. Keep guessing until you find the day's driver; there is no limit on guesses.
  5. Go on to the track, livery and team radio stages, then share your result grid.

Tips

  • Start with a driver from the middle of the grid in age and experience, so the arrows split the field in both directions.
  • Use the debut year and title count together: few drivers share both, and they narrow the field faster than team or nationality.
  • Sign in if you want your streak kept and your result on the leaderboard; you can play without it.

Questions

What time does Gridle reset?

The game's FAQ says a new puzzle starts every day at midnight Central European Time; its code picks the driver by the UTC date, so the change comes at midnight UTC. Everyone gets the same driver, track, livery and quote that day.

Do I need an account to play Gridle?

No. Gridle is free and plays without sign-up. Signing in only saves your streak and adds you to the global leaderboard.

How many guesses do I get?

The driver stage gives unlimited guesses; each one shows how close you are on team, nationality, number, age, podiums, titles and debut.

Does the same driver come up again?

Yes. The driver of the day is drawn in a fixed order from the 22 drivers on the current grid, so each driver returns every 22 days. The track, livery and quote stages change alongside it.
