Grid Lock is a daily Formula 1 trivia grid from Pole to Paddock. Each square sits where a row and a column category cross, such as British and Race Winner, and you name a driver who fits both, with nine guesses for nine squares. A new grid comes each day, and the last six days can still be played.
About Grid Lock (Pole to Paddock)
Grid Lock is one of the free F1 games on Pole to Paddock, a site of Formula 1 stats, tools and games. It takes the grid format that Immaculate Grid made popular for baseball and fills it with Formula 1 drivers.
Each day's board has three categories across the top and three down the side. On the grid of 21 October 2026 the columns were British, Italian and 1990s, and the rows were Never Won a Race, Race Winner and 100+ Starts; an earlier grid crossed Ferrari, Race Winner and 1970s with British, Italian and French. Every square asks for a driver who matches both its row and its column, so the British and Race Winner square wants a British driver who has won a Grand Prix. Typing a name brings up matching drivers with their nationality, so a common surname such as Hamilton offers more than one driver to pick from. A driver can only be used once on the board.
You have nine guesses to fill nine squares, and a wrong guess still uses one up, so there is no room for many misses. Once the puzzle ends you can tap any square to see every driver that would have counted. A date picker next to the board opens the grids of the last six days, and a Stats button keeps your record.
It suits F1 fans who know the sport's history beyond the current grid, since decades and older teams come up as often as today's drivers. Nothing has to be installed and no account is needed to play. The page carries ads from the site's ad network, including a video player below the board, but none sit over the grid.

Tips
- Fill the hardest squares first, such as a decade crossed with a nationality, while you still have spare guesses.
- Save well-known drivers who fit several squares for the square where nobody else fits.
- Think beyond the current season: retired drivers and old teams count as long as they match both categories.
