Glyph
Rate itAll the letters of a word, stacked into one shape. Decode it.
on glyph.today

Glyph draws every letter of a hidden word, two to seven letters long, on top of one another so they merge into a single tangled shape. You study the strokes and guess words; each attempt locks in the letters you got right, and you have four attempts to decode the whole word.
About Glyph
Glyph is a daily word puzzle by Stephen Cassilo, who says the idea began on graph paper in a maths class in 2007. It went online at glyph.today at the start of 2026 and has apps for iPhone and Android; everyone in the world gets the same puzzle each day.
The puzzle is a picture. All the letters of the day's word, drawn in a simple block alphabet, are laid over each other in one square, so an E, an F and an L share most of their lines and a diagonal could belong to a K, an N or a Z. The empty boxes below tell you how many letters there are. You type a real word of that length; the game shows which letters you have decoded in the right spot and which you have found elsewhere, and the glyph changes as letters are locked in.
You have four attempts. Each attempt also comes with one Decoder Key, which reveals a single letter but is marked on your shared result, and you can dim keyboard letters you have ruled out. Solving on the first attempt earns a Golden Glyph, streaks raise your rank from Novice upward, and after you finish you see how your attempts compare with everyone else's that day.
It suits players who like visual puzzles and deduction as much as vocabulary. Past Glyphs can be played from the archive, and a challenge mode lets you make a glyph of your own word for friends.
How to play Glyph
- Study the day's glyph: every letter of the word is drawn on top of the others in one shape.
- Count the boxes to see how long the word is (two to seven letters).
- Type a dictionary word of that length that the strokes could make, and decode.
- Use the letters shown as decoded or found, and the changed glyph, to make your next attempt.
- Decode the whole word within four attempts, using your Decoder Key if you are stuck, then share your result.

Tips
- Look for strokes only one letter can explain, such as a curve or a lone diagonal, and start from those.
- Long-press keys you have ruled out to dim them, so you can see what letters remain.
- Save the Decoder Key for the last attempt; it shows on your share grid.
