GeoConnections (Geotrivia)

Group sixteen flags, shapes and facts by the country they belong to.

GeoConnections #28 in the Geotrivia app: a 4 by 4 grid of cards with flags, country outlines, names such as Luxembourg and Pakistan, and statistics like population and life expectancy

GeoConnections is Geotrivia's Connections-style daily for geography. The sixteen cards mix country names, flags, outlines and statistics, and each group of four describes one country. Find all four countries before you make four mistakes.

About GeoConnections (Geotrivia)

In GeoConnections the groups are countries. A card might show a flag, an outline, a name or a statistic such as a life expectancy of 81 years, a population of 672,000, 174 countries reachable on a passport or 11 Olympic medals. Four cards belong to each of four countries, and you select four and submit, with four mistakes to spare. Shuffle and Deselect buttons help you see the grid afresh.

The hard part is the statistics: you have to know roughly how many people live in Luxembourg or how much of Pakistan is forest. The flags and outlines are the easier anchors.

It is one of five numbered daily games on Geotrivia, with GeoRankle, GeoDecide, Geodle and GeoPaint, in the browser and in the Geotrivia app, free with ads; Pro adds the archive.

It suits players who enjoy Connections and want the categories to be places.

How to play GeoConnections (Geotrivia)

  1. Look over the sixteen cards: flags, outlines, names and statistics.
  2. Pick four cards you think describe the same country.
  3. Submit; a correct group locks in, a wrong one costs one of four mistakes.
  4. Use Shuffle to see the grid in a new order.
  5. Find all four countries to finish.

Tips

  • Match flags, outlines and names first; they are the anchors.
  • Then fit the statistics: population and area usually separate small and large countries quickly.
  • Life expectancy and passport power hint at wealth.
  • Leave the most ambiguous statistic for last.
